Hrast Bauxite deposit

In the vicinity of the village Hrast pri Vinici you can visit one of the biggest and surfacewise one of the most beautiful bauxite deposits in Slovenia. Bauxite has been shaping for millions of years, which makes it a very imporzant geologic natural heritage. Bauxite layers are found by the village water hole Krivača and in the nearbynarrow pass of the road. In this area bauxite is covered by and mixed with humus. Heaps of artificially accumulated material at Krivača are the residues of the trial mining.
