Tour of the wine cellar and wine tasting
The Metlika Winery is the largest in Bela Krajina. Its specialty is a mighty, tunnel-type cellar built underground, 108 meters long, with a constant temperature between 12 and 13 degrees Celsius. The first bottle of Metliška črnina was bottled in our cellar in 1968. We set a special milestone on a Slovenian scale in the Metlika Wine Cellar in 1981, when we were the first in Slovenia to produce the Rosé wine in it, and 1986, the first ice wine, under the leadership of Dr. Julij Nemanič. We invite you on a journey through the land of Bela Krajina, among the vineyards and the hardworking hands of long generations of winegrowers, who created everything that can be shown today to the visitor who enters this sensual land. While walking among the wooden barrels, our experts will present you with a wonderful story about the creation of wine caught in the web of the past.
