Among the meadows, fields and forests in the beautiful surroundings of the Kolpa river lies a small village of Radenci. The Radenci Centre of School and Afterschool Activities is situated in the Nature Park Kolpa, in the protected area of natural and cultural significance.
The vicinity of the international border river Kolpa adds certain specifics and particularities to the environment, such as the Bela krajina folk costumes, music and customs testifying to the mixing of different cultures near the border. Among other colourful local customs and traditions one can learn about the advent of Zeleni Jurij (“Green George”, the harbinger of spring), the process of making the Bela krajina’s traditional “Pisanice” Easter eggs, the typical folk dances, the local speciality “Belokranjska pogača” and much more.
Kolpa offers ample opportunities for aquatic outdoor activities such as kayaking and canoeing.
The Centre is accessible from Kočevje by way of Stari Trg, and from Črnomelj. If driving from Črnomelj, you will come upon an intersection after approximately 12 km; take the turn towards Vinica, drive for about a kilometer and then turn right towards Radenci on the road descending into the Kolpa valley below.
