Slovenian Fire Fighters' Museum Metlika of dr. Branko Božič

In 1869, the first Slovenian fire protection unit was established. At its anniversary, the Slovenian Firefighters’ Museum was opened, which was in 2003 named after the long-year president of the Slovenian Firefighters Association and the initiator of the Museum, Dr Branko Božič. The museum is located in the old Metlika center in two buildings near the Metlika Castle. It showcases the heritage of firefighting from the beginning until today. It exhibits different fire hoses and other parts of firefighting equipment. In 2019, it celebrated 150 years since the formation of Slovenia's first fire protection unit.
