Slovenian Fire Fighters' Museum of dr. Branko Božič

The first fire brigade in Slovenia was established in Metlika in 1869. On the occasion of the centenary, the Slovenian Firefighters' Museum was opened, which was named after the long-time president of GZS and the initiator of the museum, Dr Branko Božič, in 2003. The museum is located in the old town centre of Metlika, in two buildings in the immediate vicinity of Metlika Castle. It displays the historical heritage of firefighting from its beginnings to the present day, including sprinklers and other pieces of firefighting equipment. 2019 marks 150 years since the first fire brigade in Slovenia was founded.
