''Zaviraj kolo'' wheel dance
The members of MFS Ivan Navratil traditionally organize an event called Vuzemski ponedeljek on Easter Monday every year. The purpose of the event is to present a folk custom entitled Metliško obredje - zaviranje kola, which was already described in 1888 in the newspaper Ljubljanski zvon by Ivan Navratil from Bela krajina. It was danced every year on Vuzem, Easter Monday, under the open sky in Pungart near the church of St. Martina and since 1992 at the square Trg svobode, which is part of the historic city center of Metlika. The event is composed of six different plays (Kolo, Must, Rešetca, Robčeca, Petelinji boj and Turn), some of which are now being abandoned. It is certainly the oldest combination of dances, songs and plays in Slovenia, which was entered into the register of intangible cultural heritage in 2013, and declared an intangible heritage of national importance in 2018. The event Metliško obredje is danced without music. During the dance the dancers sing and thereby provide the rhythm for the dance.
