Sodevska Stena

View on the Kolpa River

Sodevska Stena is one of the most recognizable features of the Kolpa Landscape Park. It offers a view over a large part of Poljanska Dolina, which was carved out by the Kolpa River. From Sedevska Stena the vantage point on Kozice Hill is in sight, also the villages on the Slovene and Croatian sides, and the Kolpa River meandering through the valley. The Sodevska Stena Overhang is secured with rods and chains; therefore, you can go right to the edge. Located at the top is a board, next to it is a box with a book to write your name in it. A bench and table are available so that during a break or lunch you have a lovely view on the valley.
The access point to Sodevska Stena is at Sodevci Karst Pond, a 10-minute walk on a forest trail. The Sodevci Karst Pond is located by the main road Radenci and Vinica. Shortly after the karst pond the trail splits, the path straight ahead leads to Sodevci Village, and the path to the left leads to Sodevska Stena.

Sodevci Karst Pond was used for livestock watering. Evidence of this are stables in the immediate proximity of the karst pond. The karst pond is also a habitat for many insects, frogs, and birds. Sodevska Stena is one of the main points of the Kolpa Landscape Park since it offers a lovely view on the Poljanska Dolina, which was carved out by the Kolpa River. From Sodevska Stena you can see Stari Trg ob Kolpi Village, the vantage point Kozice, and many villages on the Slovene and Croatian side.

Hike on the Čredniška Trail, and during the exploration of Poljanska Dolina enjoy the vistas.
