Castle Educational Trail
The castle-forest educational trail leads you through the natural and cultural sights of the village of Obrh near Dragatuš, which was mentioned as early as 1427. On the northern edge of the village, under an overhanging cliff, is the source of the Obrščice River, where the trail begins. The villagers also call it Breg. The path winds past the remains of the walls of Turn Castle, the French Cave, and the Kotel and Sela springs, once used by shepherds to water their cattle. The church of Peter the Hermit is followed by the ruins of the church, where locals gather several times a year for an open-air mass. The trail continues past the Oberlinec wine-growing area to the Church of St Peter at Zapudje. Then descend towards the village of Obrh.
The route is circular, 6km long. It can be walked in just over 2 hours and is not too demanding. Parking is available near the spring, i.e. at the very beginning of the trail.
The highest point is at the church of Peter the Hermit, where you climb to 311m above sea level. The trailhead is 148m above sea level.
