Accessibility

Access to public services and facilities is often difficult or impossible for people with reduced mobility. However, access problems are not only faced by wheelchair users but also by people with other types of disabilities, such as the visually and hearing impaired, the elderly, mothers with strollers, people with temporary or permanent injuries, etc.
In Bela Krajina, we want to bring cultural and natural attractions closer to everyone. We want to develop accessible tourism that will allow everyone to visit our destination, enjoy a pleasant stay, and have interesting experiences.

That is why we have surveyed the destination through questionnaires and a field visit.

Measures for different types of handicaps tend to vary, but some measures are beneficial for all users:

  • keeping paths clear (mobile equipment should not obstruct passage)
  • ensuring that rooms are adequately lit
  • the wayfinding system should be accessible, i.e. the information should be large enough and visible enough to be understood and appropriately placed in the space
  • free access to the immediate vicinity of information boards
  • the provision of information by sound.

In the future, we will organize accessibility training in the destination.
