Nine days off for just three days' leave

They say that the world is in an unpredictable situation lately. In Bela Krajina, we don't feel that. Why? Because here, all these global dramas come with a few years' delay, and here, everyone has their own timetable. The Kolpa River still flows in the same direction, the birch trees are the same white every spring, and the Pogača smells exactly the way it did to our grandmothers. If you are looking for a haven from stress and unpredictability, come and visit us! Here, instead of crises and everyday stress, you'll find genuine hospitality. Instead of high stress (only the temperatures are high), you'll find the kind of peace that's hard to find in the modern world. Relaxing at your own pace with us is not just a marketing phrase - it's a fact. The Gorjanci Hills are the perfect filter for stress.

Maths you'll love

This year's May Day holidays are stacked so that you only "sacrifice" 3 days off work, but you get the full 9. The calendar offers you the perfect opportunity to spend your holidays in Bela Krajina. As spring has sprung this year, overtaking even St George's Day, most of our providers have already opened the doors of their campsites wide. If you're not a fan of tents, we also have glamping and other accommodations. You can choose between bungalows, apartments, and, if you're more sophisticated, two hotels. Wherever you are, your morning will start with a view of a green landscape that beckons you to explore. You can make your own breakfast - head to the Bela Krajina House of Local Delights in Metlika, where local delicacies labelled with the Bela Krajina Finest quality certificate await you. You can choose from homemade juices and other drinks, jams and honeys of all kinds, tea blends, cheeses and charcuterie, and many other local delicacies. You know, there's nothing better for breakfast than a glass of sparkling wine on a fasting meal? Try it.

Don't you like cycling? Our hiking trails are waiting for your steps. You can choose from twenty-three, ranging from easy or flat to a little more challenging, hilly. We pride ourselves on our "8 peaks", where you don't necessarily need to be in really good physical shape or have professional mountain equipment. As a reward, each of the peaks offers a view that you'll remember for a long time. We suggest you climb the most popular peak in Bela krajina -Mirna Gora, where even more popular pancakes are waiting for you in the mountain lodge. P.S. Stick to the signs so you don't get lost!

The flow of the Kolpe River offers a very different energy in springtime. Water experiences at this time are for those who want to feel the river in its full glory. High water levels in spring mean more fun, especially rafting in the upper reaches of the river. Raft, canoe, and SUP rentals are available. As the Kolpa is not exactly a thermal riviera during the May holidays, the providers will outfit you from head to toe (helmet, life jacket, wetsuit, and shoes are a must). You can explore the calmer waters downstream in a SUP or canoe. Wear sun cream and a hat to keep from getting sunburnt, as the rest of your holiday will be quite hot. Make sure you stay hydrated. Our tap water is drinkable, top quality, and sustainable - so just pour it into your own bottle.

If you're a big adrenaline junkie, you can unleash your adrenaline by jumping out of a plane that takes off in Prilozje, or you can just enjoy a panoramic flight over Bela Krajina. If you are a professional paraglider pilot and you have your own paraglider at home, you can paraglide from the airstrip at Smuk above Semič. You will also be in the air if you climb among the canopy in the Gače Adventure Park and the Adrenaline Park in Podzemelj, whether or not you have children.
