Top 6 waterfalls in Bela krajina- summer natural SPA spots
Summer is knocking at the door and Kolpa River is getting warmer. Imagine this: because you've had enough of work on Thursday, you take Friday off and extend your weekend.
You get to the swimming pool, get out of the car with your sunglasses on and a towel around the door. Trust me - you don't need to bring all that clutter. You put your towel on the pebble or grass beach, put your clothes on and go. Lie on a waterfall. The water flows past you and everything is OK again. And..
Wait a minute - What waterfall?? What do you mean, lying on a waterfall?
Sorry. When a Belarusian says "waterfall", he doesn't mean a 60-metre natural spectacle like the Perinčnik up in the north-west of the country. No. There's a "waterfall" - dam. Made by human hand. Some are made of concrete, some are still made of large natural stones. and that's why these 'our waterfalls' are more familiar, more accessible, more useful than those giants.
Why are the best waterfalls in Bela Krajina?
Because they are not kitschy and because they are functional - you cool down, sunbathe, jump, meditate, philosophise or think about nothing.
A Belokranj waterfall is the only massage you need.
With a beer in your hand. Just don't leave it in the Kolpa - we've already covered that.
Where can you find them?
On the Koupa. All along the length of our longest coastline.
Let's start upstream.
- PRELESJE, MADRONIČ
One of the larger and steeper waterfalls on Koupa. Next to the waterfall is the Madronič inn and accommodation. The landscape park starts here Kolpa.
- A CORNER BY THE WHEEL
A waterfall that looks like a bomb exploded it on google maps, but is actually a tar Kolpa brings and carries stones in the colder parts of the year. Luckily for you, a waterfall has formed, which is great for massaging, and pebble islands have formed underneath.
- RADENCI
The waterfall is located above the Canoe Camp in Radenci and is made of large and small stones. in high season, you can sip cocktails at the Beach Bar next door. You can also rent SUPs and canoes and go exploring.
- BEG PRI SINJEM VRHU
Not so famous for those who stick to the beaten track. A paradise for those who aren't afraid of descending into an unknown valley. A beautiful, walled waterfall, a small island underneath and clean, warm water. You can hide under the trees from people. Maybe you meet someone who has come by boat or some herons.
- DAMELJ
Damelj is one of the most beautiful bathing spots in Bela Krajina. When you arrive in the village of Damelj, above the Kolpa Canyon, you have no idea how beautiful the valley is. The beach is grassy and the water is deep. During the summer, there is a bar near the waterfall, so don't worry about thirst.
- VINICA- BENETIČ
There are two waterfalls in Vinica, one just below the border crossing, the other lower down - at Benetič. One of the more famous in this part of the Bela krajina, it has a tavern overlooking the river and also something to snack on. At Benetič you have the opportunity to see an old mill, which is unfortunately no longer working, but the mill wheel is still turning today.
Is that it?
No, not even under miscellaneous. there are more waterfalls, but we can't write any more.
