Obkolpski Brevet 2026: 205 kilometres through Bela Krajina, Kočevje and along the Kolpa River
On Saturday, 19 September 2026, 23 cyclists set off on the Obkolpski Brevet. The 205-kilometre route took them through Bela Krajina, the Kočevje area, and Croatia, offering them a different perspective on the landscape along the Kolpa River and beyond.
The morning start in Semič was rainy, but the weather did not dampen the participants’ spirits. They set off in high spirits and full of energy, and throughout the day they were pleasantly surprised by the diversity of the route and the landscape, which unfolded kilometre by kilometre.
The Obkolpski Brevet is designed as a cycling exploration of the countryside. The route is not merely about covering distance, but offers participants the chance to experience Bela Krajina and its wider surroundings in a slightly different way, from the saddle of a bicycle, along lesser-known roads and through villages linked by the Kolpa River.
Along the 205-kilometre route, they explored the varied landscape of Bela Krajina, the Kočevje region and the area along the Kolpa River in Croatia. Each section offered a distinctive view of the landscape, from forests and open countryside to villages and the Kolpa River. It was precisely this diversity that made the brevet more than just an endurance cycling challenge for the participants.
Although the start was wet, the day continued in a spirit of good humour and perseverance. Twenty-three cyclists completed their 205-kilometre route, taking with them a new cycling experience and many memories from the journey.
The Obkolpski Brevet thus remains an invitation to discover Bela Krajina and the countryside along the Kolpa River in a slightly different way, slowly, persistently and on two wheels.
