Boštjan Narat is a philosopher, musician, essayist, writer, dramaturge, singer-songwriter, and composer of music for the stage. In 2001, he founded the band Katalena, with whom he has released nine studio albums over twenty-one years, including Z(g)odbe, Babje leto, Cvik Cvak!, Noč čarovnic, Človek ni zver, Kužne pesmi, and Enci benci Katalenci. As a solo artist, he has released two singer-songwriter albums: Strah je odveč ("Fear Is Unnecessary") and Konec sveta vedno pride nenapovedano ("The End of the World Always Comes Unexpectedly"). In 2014, he collaborated with legendary Slovenian singer Neca Falk on the joint album Od daleč ("From Afar").
He regularly publishes essays and literary pieces in various journals and is a columnist for the Slovenian newspaper Večer. Narat also works as a composer for theatre, a dramaturge, and a performer. He is the author of two essay collections — Partíja and Podaja v prazno — both of which earned him nominations for the prestigious Rožanc Award for best essay writing in Slovenia.
