Wine cellar tour and tasting of 3 wine samples

The tradition of the Metlika Winery dates back to 1909, when the first wine cooperative was founded in Metlika. Since then, we have been writing a story full of courage, knowledge, and passion for wine. It was in our cellar that the first bottle of Metliška Črnina was bottled in 1968, and later we set important milestones in the wider Slovenian wine region - in 1981 we produced the first Slovenian rosé, and in 1986, under the leadership of Dr Julij Nemanič, the first ice wine. Our cellar, built in the unique shape of an underground tunnel, is not just a space - it is an experience. The best wines, sparkling wines, and fine vintages are aged in the 108-metre-long cellar, where the temperature ranges between 12 and 13 °C throughout the year. Walking among the mighty wooden barrels that hide the stories of our wines, you will be enveloped by the smell of wood and the pulse of tradition that is interwoven in every bottle during an expertly guided tour. This is followed by a tasting of three selected samples, where the fruit notes, freshness, and elegance of our landscape unfold in the glass.
