Agricultural cooperative Metlika
Today, the Metlika Winery is one of the most important pillars of the Agricultural Cooperative Society Metlika.
Built in 1958, the wine cellar is a feast for the eyes and a place for a pleasant wine indulgence, with its unique tunnel-type design. Annual wine production is approximately 500,000 litres. For its own needs, the winery receives and buys grapes from just over 100 Bela Krajina wine-growers, who are cooperative members. They believe that quality is born in the vineyard, so all the hand-harvested grapes go to processing in excellent condition, ensuring quality processing and wine production. The winery pays great attention to wine. They monitor the ripening process and, above all, give it enough time to settle, concentrate, and ripen. The wine reflects the characteristics of the soil, climate, location, variety, vintage, and the work of the winegrower and cellarer. The wines are never the same, but they are authentic and unique. The interplay of tradition in the cellar and modern technology in production ensures walls full of championship titles and showcases of awards that testify to the rich history and forward thinking in the production of Bela Krajina wine, and all of this is the Metlika Winery.
At the beginning of 2024, the Metlika Winery created a new brand of premium wines of pleasant freshness, rich varietal notes, and harmonious taste - Jurius.
