Church of St. Trinity at Vinji Vrh pri Semiču

The church stands above the village of Vinji Vrh. It was built in 1647 on the model of the old pilgrimage church in Nova Štifta near Ribnica. The open shed in front of the entrance to the church reminds us of the pilgrimage church. Inside the shed there is a stone table and a wooden outdoor altar. Since the church was too small for the services, people used to worship outside.
The church has an octagonal shape with a dome covered with shingles. The main altar, which is gilded, occupies the entire chancel and is three-sided. It is also distinguished by its size among the 18th century carvings of the Dolenjska region. Under the image of the Holy Trinity is a gilded sculptural group of the Holy Trinity crowning the Virgin Mary. The church also has two wooden and richly decorated side altars and a pulpit. The design of the church influenced the construction of some churches in the surrounding area.
