The Curious Bat
For families and schools
Playful exploration along the river leads children into the world of beavers, turtles, mysterious bats and other animals that live in this special environment. With the help of a map and tasks, and the company of Rin the bat, they learn about the importance of nature and environmental protection.
In Črnomelj, your child will have a new best friend. Rin the bat has created a map that will guide you through the Old Town. Start at Ajdovo Zrno and head to the mill by the Lahinja River. Try your hand at echolocation! What is it? This is how Rin helps himself to find his way around and hunt for a snack. Close your eyes. Plug your ears. Did you hear where the pebble fell? Where did it bounce?
If you can hear the pebble bouncing off the ground, you certainly can't hear Rin talking. Sit on the net and listen for the sound, and use the binoculars to find Rin's home - the Church of the Holy Spirit.
The Church of the Holy Spirit is the maternity hospital for bats. A maternity ward? Yes, you read that right. This is where the great horseshoe bats and the big fan-nosed bats are born. Why is Rin named after a horseshoe bat? Walk the path of the mysterious visitor.
